හඳුනමි

සීරුණු පොළොව මතුපිට

වැහි බිඳිති අතුරා යන
ගිම්හානයේ අග ඉම
ඉහිරෙන වැස්ස හඳුනමි
දුර ඈත නිම්නයේ සිට...
මුහු කරන් මුදු පෑ හත
හදවතට විත් නවතින
ඉඳුදුන්න මම හඳුනමි

බොහෝ සිනාසුණු දවසක
නුඹේ හදවත පත්ලත
ළබැඳි උණුසුම් සුසුමක
ජීවිතය යළි හඳුනමි!

දුර

නුඹ බොහෝ දුර බව
හිත යට රිදෙන දවසක
හීන් ඉඳිකටු වැස්සක්
ඉහිරුණා කවුළුව පිට
තබා අත්ලත කොපුලට
රිදුම් සනහනු බැරි විට
දෑත පොරවා ලතවෙමි
අඳුරුයි විසල් අහසම!

නුඹ සොයමි මම

 I still search
for you in crowds,
in empty fields
and soaring clouds.
In city lights
and passing cars,
on winding roads
and wishing stars.
I wonder where
you could be now,
for years I’ve not said
your name out loud.
And longer since
I called you mine—
time has passed
for you and I.

නැවතිය හැකිව තිබුණත්

නැවතිය යුතුව තිබුණත් 

තව දහස් නැවතුම්වල 

මෙතැන සිත නැවතුණු තැන

අහස් නිල එක් බිඳුවක්

අරුණ දිලි රන් පැහැයක් 

මිටිකරන් හදවත මැද

රිදුම් ලමි ලුණු හුළඟක 

ගෙවා ගව් ගණනක් දුර

වැටී පැටලී සයුරත 

මෙතැන මේ වැලි තල මත 

නෙතු පියාගමි මොහොතක

හොඳම මඟ

An old man once said
the best way to forget someone
is to turn them into literature
so I wrote you into the stars
spoke you into the sunset
painted you into my poetry , and
laid your body beneath my words

but now all i'm left with
is a collection of work
that all reads the same
where every consonant
vowel and syllable
sounds like your name
