බොහෝ රාත්‍රීන්

There were a lot of nights

I thought how nice it would be

to stop my lungs

to stop my heart

so I could return

to the salt of the earth

and all the stars

but what a mistake it would have been

because I can tell you now

after the rain stops

the storms pass

and the light peeks in

through the darkness

that the flowers bloom

in ways I’ve never seen

and they wear colours

brighter than the sun
